By the end of 2022, all of our farms need to know their greenhouse gas numbers. Knowing your numbers provides a good base of information and helps prepare you for future requirements.

Under He Waka Eke Noa (the primary sectors climate change commitment to manage greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions), by the end of 2022 all farmers need to know their GHG numbers, and by 2025 all farmers must have a written plan in place to measure and manage their GHG emissions.

If we can achieve this, it will contribute to the industry staying out of the Emissions Trading Scheme and having a system that recognises carbon sequestration on farm.

Afternoon tea provided.

The workshops will cover (4) parts:

  1. An explanation of why every farm should know their GHG numbers and have a plan.
  2. A case study demonstration of what the GHG calculation involves.
  3. Completing the GHG calculation for your farm.
  4. How to complete a GHG action plan with examples of farm systems, and management actions that can be taken to sustainably manage GHG emissions.
