
About the workshop
Through the workshop, participants will gain an understanding of what facilitation is all about and learn the skills required to effectively facilitate groups and learning. These skills will enable you to work with farmers to help them build the confidence they need to increase practice change on-farm.
Workshop participation will include pre and post work to get the most from the workshop.

The Art and Science of facilitation
- Adopting a facilitation mindset
- Processes, tools and techniques for working with groups
- Applying facilitation in other settings eg. Meetings
The ways we learn
- Understand how we acquire skills and develop knowledge
- What is known about how the brain learns. How neuroscience and behavioural psychology can help us.
- Strategies to facilitate real learning
Learning design
- The key elements of an effective learning programme
- Designing for maximum learning
Becoming an agent for change
- Explore the barriers to change
- Influencing and supporting change
Design your event
- You will design an outline of the event you are about to run.
Programme
- Day One: Morning Tea from 9.30am; Start 10am, finishes 5.30pm.
- Day Two: Start 8.30am, finishes 3.15pm.
Maximum of 15 attendees per workshop. Must attend both days.
Workshop costs
Following registration you will receive payment instructions ($500+GST), this has been subsidised by $250 thanks to MPI.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea supplied.
Participants responsible for own travel arrangements and costs.
